The Mt Carmel United Methodist Church Youth Group will be performing a hillbilly mystery dinner theater, “Who Dun Stole the Bride?” by Kimberlee R. Mendoza produced by special arrangement with Contemporary Drama Service. Come sit a spell and share some supper while the action unfolds! When country gal Katie Sue and classy Bill get a hankerin’ to tie the knot, not everyone jumps for joy at “the Yankees invadin’ the South.” Katie’s clan is suspicious of Bill’s snobby family from over yonder, and Bill’s parents think the Eckley family isn’t of their same caliber. Just as they’re fixin’ to get hitched, Katie dun disappears! Is she a runaway bride who got cold feet? If not, then whodunit? The audience guesses up a storm. Is it wild and crazy Bob, who’s secretly swooning for Katie? How ‘bout Bill’s too-good family? Alibis abound. In the end, the lost bride is found, unforgettable wedding vows are exchanged, and whoo-eee! A rip-roarin’ good time is had by all, while Katie reminds that “judgin’ each other by how we live, look or talk ain’t God’s way.” The evening will begin at 7:00 pm on both Friday March 19th and Saturday March 20th, Tickets are $15.00 for adults ; $7.00 ages 5-12; childcare provided for children 4 and under with dinner provided for $3.00 . Mount Carmel United Methodist Church will present a free performance of the Easter portion of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, March 28, at 3:00 PM. This portion of Messiah contains many glorious choruses and solos, including the Hallelujah chorus and “Worthy is the Lamb” with the Amen chorus. Mt. Carmel's Sanctuary choir will be joined by an eighteen piece chamber orchestra to present this gift of the performance of the Messiah (parts II and III) to the Norcross and surrounding communities. This chamber orchestra will include violinists, violists, cellists, trumpeters, an organist, a harpsichordist, and a timpanist. The performance of the Messiah will be directed by Mt. Carmel choral director, Dr. Erick Parris. Dr. Erick Parris has stated that the performance is a gift to the community. “Many people consider Messiah to be one of the greatest works in Western choral literature, and we wanted to share this powerful message of love, mercy and hope with our Norcross and Peachtree Corners neighbors.” |
